PENANG

Mostly populated by Chinese community, travelers could find incense and temples everywhere in Penang. 
A state in Malaysia and the name of its constituent island, located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia by the Strait of Malacca. Penang is the second smallest Malaysian state in area after Perlis, and the eighth most populous. It is composed of two parts – Penang Island, where the seat of government is, and Seberang Perai(formerly, and occasionally Province Wellesley) on the Malay Peninsula.





THE KEK LOK SI TEMPLE


This is aBuddhist temple situated in Air Itam in Penang and is one of the best known temples on the island. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia.The temple is heavily commercialised with shops at every level and inside the main temple complexes.The construction of the temple began in 1890 and was inspired by the chief monk of theGoddess of Mercy Temple at Pitt Street.As the fairly recent date mentioned above may suggest, the temple is still growing. Generous donations from the affluent Chinese community allow the construction of additional buildings. From 2005 to 2009 an ornate shelter for the Kuan Yin statue was constructed. 16 carved dragon pillars were built, carrying the top of three concentric octogonals roof. This most recent construction was inaugurated on 6 December 2009.


PENANG HILL FUNICULAR RAILWAY

Lying at the NE tip of the island, it  is the seat of administration and is also the commercial hub of the state. This bustling metropolitan city combines the best of east and west as seen in its fascinating collection of fine old buildings, each bearing the stamp of different foreign influences in its colorful history.
Penang's charm also lies in its famous golden beached and calm warm seas. Penang today is a resort island in full bloom - an idyllic playground for worshippers of the sun and the sea. Its multi-racial population contributes to a wealth of cultural attractions and festivals.


SNAKE TEMPLE

                                          
The Snake Temple is located at Sungai Kluang near Bayan Lepas airport in the Penang Island. In front of the Snake Temple is a big incense burner, where they burn large incense.Inside the temple, in the Main Prayer Hall, is filled with the smoke of burning incense. Some people say that the snakes get paralysed by the incense. 




PENANG BRIDGE

The Bridge was built by the Government at a total cost of RM800.00 million (excluding the cost of land acquisition). With 3 interchanges, the 13.5 km Penang Bridge of which 8.4 km is above water was officially open to public on 14 September 1985. It has 533 spans of which 192 spans for the Bridge is above water. 

*GEORGETOWN*
Georgetown is the capital of the island and state of Penang, on the west coast  of peninsular Malaysia. It was listed by UNESCO in 2008 as a World Heritage Site, together with fellow former Straits Established by Francis Light in 1786 as a trading post for the East India Company, Georgetown was one of the three Straits Settlements along with Malacca and Singapore. As the new settlement attracted 10,000 settlers of all creeds and nations, Light proposed that ‘each race has a right to preserve its civil and religious peculiarities.’ Here, houses of worship representing various world religions are lined up along an axis. **




BATU FERRINGGI









Batu Feringgi (Foreigner's Rock) is a beach area in Penang, Malaysia. Along this famous beach area, there are numerous large hotels, restaurants, transport rental services, and souvenir stores. Batu Feringgi is located adjacent to Teluk Bahang and Tanjung Bungah.
